Two Session Cats Sleep Through Their Own Recording Session; Producers Keep the Tape Running
“It’s the best take of the week.” The track is now being considered for “Meow Meow.”

Two of the session cats booked for the “Meow Meow” recordings arrived on time on Tuesday, lay down on the bed provided for breaks, and went to sleep.
The producers decided not to wake them. Instead they moved a microphone closer and kept the tape running for three hours. The result, they say, is “the most relaxed take of the week” and includes a long, low purr in the second hour that one engineer described as “basically a bass line.”
The orange one woke briefly at the forty-minute mark, looked at the microphone, and went back to sleep. The producers have marked this as a key change.
“Meow Meow” is out on 20 November. It is not yet known whether the sleeping track will make the album. Mika is offering odds.

Taking bets on the sleeping track making the album. The purr is the favourite.

We would like to point out that we also sleep through sessions, and nobody calls it a bass line.

Our cat has asked whether she can do this too. We have said she already does.
