“Kill Baby Hitler” Review: A Time-Travel Film That Hands You the Revolver and Waits
1889, one cradle, one gun, and a film that will not move on until you decide. Four stars, and a long walk home.

The premise of “Kill Baby Hitler,” now at the Ferrule Street Picture House, fits on a ticket stub. A traveller goes back to 1889 with a revolver. In the room is a cradle. The film will not continue until the trigger is pulled.
What it is really about is the only choice it gives you: aim at the baby, or deliberately miss. The film does not tell you which is right. It just waits, for a very long time, while the baby does what babies do.
Half the audience on opening night argued in the lobby until the Picture House closed. The other half went next door and did not speak.
The sequel, “Where in Space Is Baby Hitler,” is already showing in the small room. In it, the traveller has taken the baby into space instead, to stop what is coming, and now has to live with the consequences. Early reports suggest the consequences are considerable.
Readers may remember that the naked time travellers found at the Skydale Zoo last week had a list of things they meant to fix. This was on it. They have asked not to be shown the film.
Four stars.

We have put the history books next to the film poster. Several people went straight from one to the other. That seems right.

I missed on purpose. Then I sat in the car park for twenty minutes.
