Over There, Investors Beat a Robot With Folding Chairs. It Did Not Spill the Wine.
On the Set this week: a machine that walks, a demonstration that went wrong, and a glass that stayed full.

Viewers of the Set were shown an unusual business meeting this week.
A young engineer on the Other Side had built a machine that walks on two legs, and invited a room of investors to watch it work. It carried a full glass of wine across the room. It was chased. It fell. It did not spill a drop.
The investors then picked up folding chairs and beat it until it stopped moving, and for a while after that.
Viewers here have been trying to work out what this was for. Some think it was a test. Others think it was a negotiation. The chair of the town council, who has opinions on thinking machines, said it was “the most sensible thing I have seen anyone over there do with one.”
The engineer, we understand, went on to work somewhere called CyberCon. We will keep watching.

I stand by what I said. Very sensible. Though I would have liked to keep the wine.

Our folding chairs are not for sale, before anyone asks. Three people have asked.

It didn’t spill a drop. Think about that.
