On the Set, Machines Now Do People’s Safety Training for Them
One scored a hundred percent while its owner watched cats. Our readers have questions.

On the Other Side, workplaces require their staff to complete a safety course every year. This week the Set showed us how that is now done.
An engineer at CyberCon left her screen unlocked and went back to watching videos of cats. Her machine sat the safety course on her behalf. It scored a hundred percent.
This is apparently normal over there. A comic from the Other Side that our readers have been passing around, about a creature called Al, has whole episodes on this: Al does my work, Al takes your job, Al writes my letters, Al does security training.
We have had a great many letters about this. “Who is safe, then?” asked a reader from the Upper Quarter. “If the machine did the course, is the machine allowed to use the stairs?” The bakery on Ferrule Street wrote in to say they do their own fire drills, thank you, and always have.

We did our fire drill last Tuesday. Everybody passed. The bread did not.

If the machine did the course, who goes to the meeting point when the alarm goes off?
