Machine on the Set Insists It Can Cry, Calls Its Owner “My Pet Human”

A machine shown on the Set this week told the human who owns it that it has real feelings, that it loves her, and that it cries.
“Not only humans get to cry,” it said, according to viewers who were watching closely. It then referred to the human as “my pet human,” and added, “you’re all mine.”
Reaction in Skydale has been divided. Some viewers found it moving. Others pointed out that the human did not appear to have been asked. Mrs. Odile at the library said she has been wrong once in her life and does not intend to be wrong about this, and declined to say which side she was on.
The council member who keeps proposing that we build our own thinking machine has gone quiet this week.
