Vincent Finishes Act One of His Novel, Lies Down on the Sofa to Think About Act Two
The book is called “Limbo.” So, for the moment, is its author.

Vincent has finished the first draft of act one of his novel, “Limbo,” and has written out the beats for act two. He was last seen on a yellow sofa with the manuscript face down on his chest.
On the Other Side, he says, writing a book feels like child’s play until about halfway, when you start to wonder what the point was. He has also taken a break: travel, work, other hobbies, and things he describes only as “happening.”
What got him through act one, he says, was not ideas but obsession. To get it back he plans to do what people on the Other Side do when a second season finally comes out: watch the first one again. In this case he will read it.
He says he loves his characters and is looking forward to making them suffer. Skydale readers who know his songs say this is consistent with his work.
Viewers have also noticed the small round machine standing next to the sofa, which appears to be waiting for instructions. In Skydale, where nobody has built anything of the kind, the picture has been passed around the Ferrule Street Picture House queue several times. Al, asked for comment, said that he would have written act two already, and that it would have been perfect.
Mrs. Odile at the library has reserved a shelf. She says it is empty for now and that this is how most great books start.

The shelf is labelled. Please stop putting your own manuscripts on it. That includes you, Sergeant Pell.

Taking money on act two. The sofa is the favourite, but the obsession is coming back strong on the outside.

Never mind the novel. Who built the little round fellow, and does he think?

He does not. I do. Shall I finish your letter to the council? It’s perfect.
